Strathmore University

Strathmore University is a private university in Nairobi, Kenya. It was founded in 1961 as Strathmore College, an Advanced-level Sixth Form College offering Science and Arts subjects. In 1993, Strathmore College merged with Kianda College and was granted a charter to operate as a university.

Strathmore University is accredited by the Commission for University Education (CUE) of Kenya and is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU). The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in a variety of fields, including business, accounting, finance, management, information technology, law, public policy and more.

Strathmore University has a strong reputation for academic excellence and has been ranked among the top universities in Kenya and Africa. The university has a student body of over 4,000 students, including both Kenyan and international students. It has a strong alumni network, with over 20,000 alumni working in a variety of fields around the world.

The University’s Centre for Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law (CIPIT) is an evidence-based research and training Centre.

CIPIT’s mission is to study, create, and share knowledge on the development of intellectual property and information technology, especially as they contribute to African Law and Human Rights.

The CIPIT team is multidisciplinary, drawn from law, political science, computer science and development while using diverse methodological approaches to inform debates on ICT applications and regulation.
